Today started with an absolutely delicious (and gargantuan) breakfast at Oscar's, a mecca of pancakes as big as your face, perfectly cooked hash browns and, most importantly, a "side of bacon" that equals about six slices. The green chile sauce will really wake you up in the morning, too.

On the walk to breakfast, we crossed this bridge over the Animus River. I just thought it looked really cool around sunrise.
I also saw the famed Durango-Silverton steam train firing up for its first trip of the day.
Next, we rented bikes at Pedals To Peaks, where the workers are super friendly even if they're evidently recovering from a long night.
The next two hours or so were spent pedaling on the well-maintained and paved hike and bike trail along the Animus River that runs through Durango. The river is high from a combination of good snow and a wet summer, so it's noisy and muddy with lots of white water. Rafters floated by regularly and seemed to be moving at a brisk pace.
After riding along the river and resting for a bit, Cody and I took a walk across this really cool suspended foot bridge back over the Animus.
This bridge looks familiar :)
